WIP Wednesday: EYL is off the wall!!!!

*Update* I'm putting this at the top because it is incredibly important. I can't believe I forgot to add this to my post today. Again, September is childhood cancer awareness month. Let's put some perspective as to why childhood cancer needs so much awareness. Congress approves each year how much funding is spent on cancer research and allocates which cancers receive how much money. In 2009 $5.6 billion was spent on cancer research. About $180 million was allocated to pediatric cancer research while $572.6 million was allocated to breast cancer research in the same year. Since I missed yesterday's fact, lets talk about survival rate, something no one wants to talk about when it comes to pediatric cancer. Survival means 5 years or more after remission. Breast cancer, which receives almost 5 times the funding, has a 93% survival rate according to the American Cancer Society. Pediatric cancer has an 80% survival rate according to the American Childhood Cancer Organization. Just think about how insane that is. Certainly breast cancer needs awareness, too, but what I'm trying to point out is that childhood cancer is not getting the awareness and the funds for research that it needs.

I know that was a lot of information to take in, and I'm sorry for giving it to you all at once but it's incredibly important to spread this information!
I will be posting one fact a day from now on. The reason I missed yesterday is because I was in the ER again, that story I will save for another day. Moving on...

Look at what was on my machine today... Express Your Love. Wow, it felt great to get back on this quilt. My first art quilt.

I only finished one tiny section doing echoing, but it still felt so great to get back on this quilt.

I feel like the blue really adds a nice pop of color, good choice, me!

I walk away for 2 minutes and she's already on the quilt!

I feel like my list of WIP's is about two miles long.  So let me lay it out for you.

Personal stuff:
  1. EYL: keep trucking on the FMQ
  2. Pinwheels and Elephants table runner: Finish up the border and quilt that sucker out
  3. Orange bed quilt: The top and back have been pieced for months, I just need to go about basting and quilting it some how!

Stuff for the Hoppi Quilt Shop:

  1. More wine totes
  2. Buttons Lap quilt: so far I've just cut it
  3. Two other quilts: fabric is cut... that's all!
  4. Ombre Lap quilt: lol... that should tell you enough. I got the fabric, so I guess that's a start

And then there's this adorable fabric I bought myself in March.

Seriously... what do you do with fabric this cute? I don't even want to cut it because it's so cute. Cho kawaii desu ne? (it's so cute, isn't it? oh yeah, there was that time where I minored in Japanese and studied abroad in Japan, surprise!)

As far as wedding Wednesday's, they'll start up again soon. Very soon I will be starting the DIY stuff for the wedding.

  1. Your dog is like my cat! Do you think it's just comfy, or are they making sure we don't pay attention to anything else?

    1. Oh, it's totally that they are making sure we don't pay attention to anything but them!
