I'm very excited to share with you Hands 2 Help! It's a charity event in which quilt bloggers from all over make a quilt for two different charities, Happy Chemo and Quilts Beyond Borders. I will be making one quilt for one of these charities. Here comes the hard part, which charity do I choose as both of them are close to my heart.
Heres a little background information. Many of you know that D's youngest cousin Vanessa has cancer, therefore making a quilt for someone who is undergoing chemo is very special to me. I already have an idea of what I will make, a quilt for a boy (child) fabric and all is picked out in my head!!!
The second charity is special for a reason many of you may not know. D and I will be adopting a child in the future. D has his mind made up that he wants to do an international adoption, more specifically a child from Africa. Therefore, Quilts Beyond Borders, which gives the quilts to under-served children, mainly orphans, across the world, is so special and close to my heart! These quilts need to be durable and hold up well over time, so it would be a challenge... something I'm always up for!
It's tough to make that decision, so I need your help! Please comment on which charity you think I should donate to!
Here's what I was up to this weekend.
The super secret mystery quilt, of course! I cannot wait to share with you what it is! Soon, friends, very soon you will find out!
I also took a trip to Home Depot with D (due to a broken closet shelf...) and bought some terracotta pots to line with fabric. I found the tutorial on Pinterest. As you can see it's not done because Suravi, my preggo friend, came over for dinner while the boys (D and Taylor) were out disc golfing... We got to talking and before we knew it they were back. We had a lot to catch up on as we hadn't seen each other for two whole weeks! Hehe.
I'll be posting a picture of the pot when it's complete!
I hope you all have a very happy and productive Monday! I know mine will be!
Quilt on,
Hoppi
Two beautiful choices indeed. I dont think you can lose either way. I can't even make a suggestion! Maybe the best one is the one that has already inspired you ("I already have an idea of what I will make, a quilt for a boy (child) fabric and all is picked out in my head!!!") Should be really great and feel good too!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your input, Susan, I have decided to go with Happy Chemo!
DeleteI think you should do it for Happy Chemo since it's more meaningful right now (not that the other one isn't...). At least your interruption to your fabric pot was a good one! ;^D
ReplyDeleteI am going to do Happy Chemo, I'm getting the fabric on Monday! I'm pretty excited about it. The interruption was great, and fun too! See you soon tehehe ^~^
DeleteLove reading your blog! I've always wanted to adopt too!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jahayma!!! I LOVE reading your blog too, you're adorable! I can't wait to find out what sex little baby T is! Today is the big day, right!?!?! D and I are going to have one baby naturally then adopt the rest... we want a big family :)
DeleteSo glad you're going to join in the fun, Alyx!
ReplyDeleteAs am I, Sarah! They're both such wonderful charities, thank you for putting this together!!!
